Here are two good resources you can use to find non-profits.

Guidestar (which is excellent) and The Nonprofit Zone will list many
of the nonprofits, but these other places to look may also be
fruitful:

A corporation, nonprofit or not, that is incorporated in Virginia
should be registered with the Office of the Clerk of the Virginia
State Corporation Commission:
  http://www.state.va.us/scc/division/clk/

The City of Richmond may require even nonprofit corporations to
register with the city and to obtain business licenses:
  http://www.ci.richmond.va.us/department/finance/bpol.asp

Finally, the Internal Revenue Services allows you to search for
charitable organizations that are exempt from Federal income tax (not
all nonprofits are):
  http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=96136,00.html

These sources will pick up nonprofits that are too small for Guidestar
to know about (unless the nonprofit itself goes to Guidestar).
