I'm looking for a case of Rheumatoid Arthritis that suddenly had an
episode of stroke (cerebrovascular accident) and interestingly lost
all symptoms and signs of the rheumatoid arthritis on the side of the
paralysis (hemiplegia or paraplegia). It should not be difficult to
find because there are 30 million cases of RA out there. REMEMBER TO
please be specific. Once again- I'm looking for info on any case that showed
disappearance of symptoms and signs of arthritis on the side of
the paralysis. Such cases have been well publicised but for some
reason or the other, I just cannot find them.

Hello drpjalex-ga

I have three potential leads. However, since Medline does not provide
abstracts for these articles, I cannot verify that they are what you
want. Hence, I am giving you the information as a comment, rather than
as a paid answer.

Good one there tehuti-ga. And thanx for the quick response.
I'm going to order those articles in and look at them specifically. It
wont be until four days from now that I can get them and actually see
if they had any loss of signs and symptoms of RA, though I am a little
inclined to doubt it.
The cases that I am referring to are ones that I've heard occurring in
the recent few years.
But lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that they were the right
ones. Meanwhile guys.. pls keep lookin' and helpin'
Thanx again.

I'll give you guys one more lead on to this.
Check this article out!!
Scand J Rheumatol 1997;26(1):1-3 Related Articles, Links
Neurohumoral mechanisms in rheumatoid arthritis.
Baerwald CG, Panayi GS.
It says clearly there that there have been many observations that
following stroke or peripheral nerve injuries, the development of
rheumatoid arthritis is either prevented or ameliorated in the
affected limb. But I just dont know the links to where all those
observations are. And so it is not enough to substantiate my claim.
Dont post an answer unless you have atleast 5-10 corroborative links .
