I have an old wooden trawler that I have setting up as a pleasure boat. I have stripped out the sodden "pegboard" from inside the hull and now wish to paint the inside of the hull white to brighten it up. Is there a paint or compound that will go on and stay on over the damp wood of the internal hull below the waterline - this is obviously still very visible in the below deck area? |

Hi Tannyt. Try this. clean down the surface if oily by washing with household detergent. Rinse off. Give the damp wood a coat or two of " BONDCRETE" or another type of concrete waterproofing liquid. Bondcrete is water soluble. From a new tin mix it 1:1 . This will help it soak in, even if the wood is already damp. Then try and get hold of a "SOLVER" BRAND water based paint called " Armourguard". Although water based, it is very hard wearing and has 'rubberised' qualities. Hope this helps. |
