Question ID: 730583
I purchased a new Gateway GT5032 dual Athlon processor PC with Windows
Media Center from BestBuy. Right out of the box it would not play
Live TV without freezing, so I followed internet advice and downloaded
an updated Athlon 64 Processor Driver (1.2.2.2). This fixed the
problem right away. Now when I switch users and there is an Internet
Explorer or Windows Explorer (including Control Panel, etc.) open, the
next time the other user wants to open up an Explorer window, we get
"Runtime Error - IExplore.exe The Application has requested the
Runtime to terminate in an unusual way". I reinstalled the entire
system, being careful to install my Office 2003 Pro after
de-installing the installed Office Trial. Still the same error.
Logging out of a user can fix this problem.
A successful answer to this question will allow me to use Windows
Media Center with the Live TV, have Office 2003 Pro installed, and
allow users to switch without this annoying Runtime Error. I am
willing to reinstall Windows XP one more time if necessary.
