Hello philo888-ga,
My preliminary research shows that grouping ?electronic gift cards,
money transfers and prepaid telephone recharge? might make sense since
these are all Stored Value Cards or Instruments. I?ve found some
market research reports for this field but it doesn?t look like a
yearly breakout will be available for any/all of them. I?m also
wondering what you meant by ?globally for the last five years.? Market
research reports tend to be available for a limited range of
geographic areas. This is a new market and standard metrics have not
yet emerged.
I suggest that I research everything available for the Stored Value
Cards industry in the past five years and provide you with whatever
market information is available. Will this suit your needs? Have you
already researched this topic? What did you come up with? I don?t want
to duplicate any work that you might have completed on your own.
"Event tickets" and "lottery tickets" seem to be very different
categories of products from the Stored Value Cards and from each
other. I suggest that you post separate new questions for each to
maximize your chances of getting an answer.
As you have the question posted, it?s not likely that you will get an
answer because if a researcher can?t find even one part of the answer,
they will not be able to post a final answer. In addition, if you
split the question to ask about each product separately multiple
researchers can be working on your questions at the same time and you
are likely to get at least partial answers if complete information is
not available for all the products you?re interested in.
I look forward to your clarification.

Hi CZH,
a) I'm fundamentally looking for a table that shows the following
credibly sourced and referenced for the global market:
2000 2002 2005 Growth Rate
Number of transactions X Y Z GR
Money transfers
prepaid: gift cards
prepaid: telephony
Tickets: event
Tickets: lottery
Tickets: airline
Total $ volume A B C GR
b) I've been able to find some data on the prepaid gift cards and
prepaid telephony - even then not from terribly credible sources. I
didn't want to spend thousands on the reports that seemed to have the
information. Do you have access to these?
c) I am having real trouble getting data on ticketing (event, airline
and and lottery tickets).
d) i am also having real trouble getting something credible for money
transfers outside annual report tertiary source type stuff. This
should be relatively easy to find
If you can populate the table with definitive, credible answers for my
table i'm really happy to pay up to $375
I need the information today though. Please help...

Hello philo888-ga,
Thank you for the clarification. Since you?ve indicated that you need
the information as soon as possible I?m unlocking this question. Maybe
another researcher has access to industry information that is not
readily available on the open Web. I think bits and pieces of what
you?re looking for are available but putting your table together will
be a great challenge.
If the question remains unlocked I will post my partial findings and
suggest that you post a question for me priced according to the value
of what I?ve found. I will have some material for you later tonight.
Wishing you well.

Hello again philo888-ga,
It is very difficult to research your question because you have not
explained how the six categories you?ve listed are inter-related in
your thinking. It?s also not clear if you?re looking for volume of
sales by item sold or by dollar value ? or both. It would take focused
research to try to find information about each of the categories
you?ve listed. The resources I listed under general information are
mostly from market research organizations. You can review these sites
to try to find relevant statistics for your categories.
I'd need additional information to be able to do any meaningful
research on your "ticket" categories.
I hope the material I found will be useful to you.
All the best.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT STORED VALUE CARD INDUSTRY
http://www.atmmarketplace.com/research.htm?article_id=24897&pavilion=41&step=story
The Stored Value Market in 2006
The debit card market has seen dramatic changes over the last few
years and 2005 was no exception. The U.S. retail gift card volume
topped $18.6 billion last year, according to the National Retail
Federation, and with more hybrid debit-card products hitting the
marketplace, 2006 promises to be a banner year for both signature- and
PIN-based branded stored-value cards.

Stored Value Cards
Overview of the SVC Market
Product Description
Like traditional debit cards, stored value cards (SVCs) utilize
magnetic stripe technology to
store information and track funds. However, because they are prepaid,
SVCs differ from
traditional account-based debit cards in that they have limited risk
of overdrafts while
providing nearly immediate liquidity for consumers.
Mercator Advisory Group measures the dollar volume loaded onto
?prepaid instruments,? which includes SVCs of all kinds, as well as
all prepaid non-card products, such as prepaid wireless telephone
services. Under this rubric, Mercator estimates that $157 billion was
loaded onto prepaid instruments in 2003. Of that, the largest segments
were the gift card and government program card segments, with each
accounting for 25% of the total. According to Mercator, payroll and
other employee benefits cards accounted for 17% of the total, while
general spending products accounted for 15% (Sloane, 2004).
