Question ID: 731551
Which config in about:config is modified when I use cntl++ to increase
the page zoom of a web page or mail messege in the following
applications (ESPECIALLY Thunderbird) : Mozilla 1.7, Firefox 1.5, Thunderbird
1.5? That is my only question. If you would like more funds to discuss
the rest of this below then
I need to know because it is the ONLY way to make a plain text email messege look
bigger on a modern LCD with high pixel density and i desire a persistant
setting, so i hope to modify a config by hand to set it up a notch so
i do not have to do it every session. Changing font settings and even
minimum font settings does not slove this problem, it is a different
setting. Extensions such as the (now defunct) Text Zoom by CosmicCat
Creations and PageZoom attempt to do this but i need a solution for
Thunderbird. Otherwise I will have to go back to a CRT moniter because
LCDs can only look good at thier maximum resolution and I do not want
my Mom to hurt her eyes looking at a blur. This is an industrywide
problem and Apple COmputer and Microsoft are going to have scaling
solutions in thier next OSes (such as Apple's Resolution Independant
User Interface that is only gonna work well on cocoa apps!!) because
of this problem of "pixel density inflation" when all my apps are
still written for 800x600 and the displays are all at 1280x1024 and
now i cant read anything!!! I even tried 120 DPI in Windows display
settings but that doesnt fix my applications. Meanwhile, Thunderbird
has its own DPI setting and i changed it from 72 and it doesnt seem to
do anything (i tried 92) I am outraged at all of the micro text in my
software as a result of this. This is WAY too confusing for an end
user and no one wants to support it, they jsut blame everyone else,
and I do not understand where is all the outrage? Please try to help.
Its not even for me its for my Mom. Its as though its my fault for
helping her upgrade. I feel terrible because she wants to run her SONY
SDM-1075S LCD at 1024x768 and its blurry and i feel horrible because
if a Sony LCD cant do it then nothing can. It looked a little better
with my Nvidia 6600 in here but i went back to Intel Graphics because
the 6600 that i put in was drawing too much power on her PC. Its WinXP
SP2. Please say something so i feel better and tell me you noticed all
this too. No one seems to get it. :( Thank You.

....and I'm sure we all love the extra "screen real estate." now we
can all surf the 800x600 web with vertical bars on the side of our
browsers if we try to go full screen. My poor dad still thinks the web
so suppossed to be full screen because "it was before" and now his
newly magnified fonts turn the web pages overlapped and jumbled, both
Mac and PC. yeah i'm upset...
