Question ID: 732291
I have a problem with Outlook multi-account configuration.

I have multiple e-mail accounts set up with-in Outlook. Normally when
I respond to an e-mail, Outlook automatically responds by using the
account that the original e-mail went to. (ie. Email to
someone@e-mail.com would respond by using someone@e-mail.com account)

For some reason this is no longer the case. ie Email to
someone@e-mail.com responds now with otheraccount@othere-mail.com
(entirely different and non-associated account) which is the default
account.

Can someone tell me why this is happening and a way to correct it.

Thank you.

Quite a few other people seem to be having this same problem. One
person posted this as a solution:

"Eureka !!!! I solved the check mark issue by deleting and
reinstalling my accounts. However, that did not take care of the issue
of sending the emails on the default account when replying. So I went
back and checked my desktop and found that I was using plain text and
not HTML and that I was including the old message and indenting it.
Made those changes and that fixed the problem. Now to work backwords
and get it to work in HTML."
(...)
"I went back and reset to Word and HTML and everything still works.
Must be a sequencing thing about the set up. Hope this fixes
everyone's problems with Outlook and multiple accounts/replies."

Let me know if that helps.

Hi Mao,

Here's how the solution worked for one member of that forum:

"So I went back and checked my desktop and found that I was using
plain text and not HTML and that I was including the old message and
indenting it. Made those changes and that fixed the problem. Now to
work backwords and get it to work in HTML."

In Outlook go to Tools>Options>Preferences>Email options. In "When
replying to a message", choose 'Include original message text'.
Click OK.

Now while still in Options, select the Mail Format Tab. In "Compose
this message format" choose 'Plain Text'.

Uncheck "Use Microsoft Office Word to edit e-mail messages" if it is checked.
Click Apply and OK.

"I went back and reset to Word and HTML and everything still works.
Must be a sequencing thing about the set up."

The person went back and changed the format back to HTML and
re-selected Word and it solved the problem.

Hope that clarifies it.

Best regards,
Rainbow
