If it has an automatic transmission, check out with someone who knows
how to put in neutral so that the transmission is disengaged - if
possible.
I know someone who towed a Cherokee behind their mobile home, and
discovered that they should have shifted into neutral a different way
than what they were doing - out of drive or reverse, I don't know.

Of course, an entirely different vehicle, but it was a strain on the
transmission to be running all the time.
