I understand the problems dealing with IT recruitment agencies (I'm an
IT contractor myself) - a lot of them don't seem to understand the
technical side of the jobs you're looking for. The best way to choose
one that'll work for you is to find one that
- advertises a lot of jobs in your chosen area
- has a good history
- has a professional approach (you can tell by looking at their
websites)
My research on the above for you has turned up a few on the West Coast
that fit the criteria. They don't specialise in OpenVMS in particular
(nobody does - employment agencies like to cover a lot of bases,
especially in IT where any particular OS or package can diusappear
relatively quickly, leaving them with outdated experience), but they
DO have long experience in placing OpenVMS staff and undertand their
needs.
Robert Half Technology, with headquarters in Pleasanton, CA specialise
in all UNIX jobs, and have long experience in placing OpenVMS (and
other VMS) candidates in the West Coast, and they are one of the
biggest agencies around.
