Hi, I live in Saskatchewan. I got a speeding ticket in April 2003 for $177.00 in British Columbia. I did not pay it because I was out of province. I heard that after five years it just gets erased. Now, for the last week I have had a collection agency that keeps calling me saying that if I dont pay it it will affect my credit rating. Can that really happen or is he just trying to "scare" me into paying it? |

In Australia once a collection agency is involved the least of your problems is your credit rating (which is affected). The increase from the original fine (penalties for late/non payment etc.) And the very distinct possibility of your possessions (to the value of fine + penalties) being seized! Non payment of parking fines can result in the suspension of drivers license. |

Why don't you just contact the province you got the ticket in and ask them the status of the ticket. |
