My car's A/C works sporadically. It ususally does not work when it is
really hot outside or when it has been sitting in the sun (as opposed
to under a tree). What could be the problem? Toyota Camry 1993 Sedan LE.

Since it works sporadically, it may be as simple as having the
refrigerant recharged. If the level is too low, it creates the
kind of symptoms you're experiencing. There's usually a small
glass window on one of the refrigerant supply lines that will
show you bubbles in the fluid if the level is too low. Look
for a small, round glass window on one of the lines. You may
find that it's covered with dust and grime, so you'd have to
clean it to recognize that it's a little glass window.

Let me know where this takes you...

does it not even turn on? or is it turning but not getting cold?? If
it makes a squeeling noise, tighten the belt by adjusting the belt
tensioner. (as it get hotter, the belt may stretch just enouph to slip
