I would like to obtain a list of the largest cities in North America
which apply a tax on the operation of parking lots and garages.

I know that Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York apply a tax based
on the receipts of parking service companies operating within their
city borders. In addition, Vancouver applies a similar tax on receipts
plus a "parking site" tax based on the square footage of land devoted
to parking operations.

I'm interested to know what other major North American cities apply
similar parking taxes. The largest 15 or 20 cities would be perfect.

I can get you pretty close to the list you want.

There's a very good, very recent overview of parking taxes in this report:

Parking Taxes
Evaluating Options and Impacts

Table 1 of the report lists the tax rates on parking garages in 11
cities -- these appear to be more or less the highest tax rates that
the authors are aware of.

Take a look, and let me know if the information in this report meets your needs.

Thanks,
