I am a college educated, good looking, financially sucessfull, 25 year
old male residing in Portland, Oregon interested in meeting a
potential wife from Eastern Europe. I am only, however, interested in
meeting someone who is well matched to me, shares my strong religious
convictions and is well educated (ie: doctors, lawyers, teachers,
nurses, scientists, etc). With cost not being a a factor, what are
some of the most reputable foreign matchmaking services that could
facilitate this process for me.

If you are a "college educated, good looking, financially sucessfull, 25 year
old male", why limit yourself to Eastern European women? What's wrong
with American women?

I am second generation Russian. My parent came here legally when I
was two. It is important to me to marry a russian or ukrainian woman
because of my customs. Unfortunately, where I live has very few such
women.

@theoregonkid-ga

I follow your reasoning, however as a 'hybrid' (and that is not at all
derogatory) you might find that you have a lot more in common with
someone from a similar background - your parents probably have quite a
network.

Alternatively, your bilingual language skills are very valuable, you
could angle your career in such a way that you get to work in Russia.
Possibly that is not practical. Do you still have relatives within
Russia ?
If so, it might be an idea to pay them a visit.

Try A Foreign Affair at www.loveme.com. I've used their service and
been on their trips with great success. (Married for 7 years now)

http://www.womenrussia.com/index.html has a detailed primer on finding
and marrying Russian brides. Today, there is so much traffic (heh,
heh) it exceeded its daily traffic limit so there may be a delay to
access the page. She is a Russian bride herself, and supplies all
sorts of practical information on do's and don't of seeking foreign
brides. One detail I remember is that men who marry Russian brides
have an average income of around $100,000 a year. Russian brides have
a 25% divorce rate, and most of those is where there is a big age
difference. They are highly educated, are physically very attractive,
and have excellent domestic skills.

Political guru, don't tempt me!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to say only,
though I could write a book on this topic, that it makes no sense to
marry a woman from ANY identifiable group which has a 50% divorce
rate. And, has 11 lovers average before first marriage.

For those who think my comment is unpleasant, and wish to have an
up-to-date view of American male attitudes toward marrying American
women, google for National Bureau of Vital Statistics and marriage.
In 1984, there were around 9.4 marriages per 1000 population, with
around half that in divorces. In 2000, the rate was around 8 per
1,000, with divorce half. In the next three years, it dropped to
around 7.5.

And, the refusal to marry is in the more desirable group, such as
questioner. When I go back to the States, I visit the city where my
(Mexican) wife and I worked and lived for over 30 years. There will be
in the newspaper a wedding announcement, bride Bachelor's degree U of
Iowa; Master's Northwestern. Groom works for Hy-Vee Grocery company
(bags groceries), or drives truck for XYX Construction Company
(seasonal work).

I just saw a statistic that the white population in the U.S. has
already begun to drop, due to refusal to marry by white men. Not next
ten years, not next twenty years, but is already dropping. I know the
claim is made that it is women who are refusing to marry; let's not be
silly. Dr. Phil and Oprah have shows featuring women who complain they
can't find a husband; There is no show on men complaining they can't
find wives because men who want to marry can find a wife easily.

This could be fixed but it won't be, since it is impossible for those
in political power today to listen to or heed genuine criticism.
Instead of calling men like me every name in the book, women should be
listening and checking this out. No fault divorce was the worst
mistake this country ever made, and is the biggest reason so many men
won't marry as what they see to be a prelude to female instigated
divorce.

A dropping birth rate is a sign of an increasingly affluent (and
educated) population.

Marriage and birth are not totally connected.

In the UK, prior to no-fault divorce, couples resorted to spoofing an
'affair', hiring a private detective and faking 'In flagrente delicto'
- it was considered courteous for the male to provide the 'evidence'
- a 'decent chap' would take the rap, and be well regarded for his chivalry

However, I agree that 'easy' divorce does make it more likely that a
women will instigate proceedings. Personally I consider alimony more
of a problem, I've no problem with child support, but ex-wife support
strikes me as a curious concept.
