I am a 27 year old white female in relatively good health and until
recently very active.  I was diagnosed with a severe case of vertigo
and placed on 150Mb of prednisone, daily.  I tapered down for 3 weeks in
3-day intervals, 25Mb reduction at each interval.  Because I wasn't
sleeping I was placed on 2mg of Lunesta.  I am no longer taking the
Lunesta and still not really sleeping.  maybe 2-3 hours at a time
without the sleeping pills.
I have been off the steriods and sleeping pills for almost a week (all
symptoms of the vertigo have subsided).  I seem to be having more side
effects now in the last week since I have been off compared to when I
was actually on the medication.  Puffy Face and Acne
(face/chest/back).  Im taking on weight in my abdomen and thighs and
my engery levels are fluctuating.  I'm trying to drink as much water as
I can.
I'm also now sick with what appears to be a cold, but am just not
getting better.  I am assuming that the prednisone has depleated my
immune system and am unable to fight whatever cold I have caught.  No
fever, all in my sinuses.
I am very concerned that these side effects are hitting me now that I
am no longer on the medicine.  How long will this last?  What can I do
to help get me through these symptoms?  Is this normal?  Should I be
concerned?
