Question ID: 735819
How many different publishers have printed "Mein Kampf" in some
version, throughout the world? And, how many different book covers has
it had? This is for a paper regarding design/typography and its
ethical issues. Many different publishers have handled this
controversial book--it would be helpful to know EXACTLY how many.

It would be impossible to ever find out because all editions printed
after 1945 are pirated, and nobody counts pirated books.

The background: The German federal state of Bavaria owns all rights in
"Mein Kampf". And for obvious reasons, they do not allow anybody
anywhere to reprint the entire book. Exceptions are made only for
excerpts, and only for research purposes and the like.

I'm afraid that therefore, nobody can ever know how many publishers
have, illegally, published "Mein Kampf".

Regards,
Scriptor

Apparently, the Bavarian copyright is not complete.
(Would this do as an answer?):

"This information seems to have been incorrect. The German authorities
have pointed out that the state of Bavaria apparently holds the
copyright for Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf for all countries of the world
except the United Kingdom and the United States and it has recently
used these rights to prevent publication of the work in several
countries. Bavaria has managed to prevent the publication of Mein
Kampf in Sweden, in Croatia and in Turkey. In some cases, according to
information from the Bavarian Finance Ministry, the Bavarian
authorities have forced the publisher to pulp the printed book"

An interesting side note for your paper might be that some one has
placed the entire thing on the internet, and anyone who wants to can
just print a copy or read it online. I printed it a year ago, but
lost the url. you could search it if you like. I'd try Mein Kamph
+ Print + free + book +read

I understand that there is more than one version.

Some Britishers who read a version in the Thirties were more impressed
with the version that they saw than the original which some of them
read later.
