Question ID: 736260
How do I find a contact list of smoke detector manufacturers or
distributors that may be interested in licensing my smoke detector
patents? Once a company is found, I need a contact name to submit the
patent and product information.

Hi!

In what country?

Plus isn't it possible to conclude that if your new product is really
good then any manufaturer will potentially license it. They have to
see your product to be interested since they deem themselves as
experts and if you really got a winner there then they would be
interested. So it would be just about every manufacturer in the
industry.

Thanks.

The patents are United States patents so any company that makes/sells
battery operated smoke detectors in the United States would be a
potential. I need a list of contacts to send the information. I've
tried the big ones in the past, but had no luck and put the project to
the side for some time. The patents are still good and would like to
give it another shot of submitting the idea. Some of the bigger
companies have procedures for submitting ideas. I would need to know
if there's any special contact email address/mail address to send and
if there's any procedure. This may be difficult to find for each
company. I'm really looking for a list of companies where I can
simply send them a brief intro and link to a site. Here's the site:
www.nextedison.com. Essentially, I would like to do a mail merge to
potential companies to send them the link. So if you could provide a
list that provides company name, website, and contact email, that
would suffice. Thanks.

Hi again!

I don't know if knowing the procedure on how to go about it is
documented by each company.

Would you be satisfied with just an email address plus other contact
information like physical location and phone numbers? Some companies
do not even show the names of their people on their sites. Is that
still ok with you?

Plus how many companies would be regarded as a legitimate answer?

Thanks.

Hello,

I would be satisfied with the following conditions:

1-Email address plus other contact information like physical location,
phone numbers, website
2-Format in answer should be so that I can block and copy into Excel (in columns).
3-Sources of information should include, but don't not limited to:

http://www.thomasnet.com/
http://www.globalsources.com/manufacturers/Smoke-Detector.html

Not sure how many manufacturers actually exist, but I want to submit
the patents to all.

Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for the question.

I already made the list in an Excel file for you. I still included
some companies even if they don't have email addresses since they
might be of interest to you. Companies without an email address are
colored in red.

You may download the Excel file from the link below.

Looking good! In my original request, I asked for the procedure to
submit the invention for each company. Since the list was long and
not documented on the web, we decided that just getting the contact
info would suffice. I would like to go back to finding out the
procedure for just two companies, the big ones, First Alert and Kidde
Safety. This would probably involve a phone call to inquiry with them
the procedure to submit a patented invention. If this is not in the
scope of this service, please let me know. If so, please find out the
procedure for each and document it in the Excel. If you find this
out, then I'll be happy to give you a nice big tip! Thanks!

Hi again!

I am really sorry that I cannot make calls since I am not from the
United States and I do not have the resources to make such expensive
calls. As another option, I emailed your request so that if they
respond we might know the procedure. However, I was only able to do
this for Kiddie Safety since First Alert doesn't have an email address
on its website.

In case Kiddie Alert responds, I will post it here.

Thanks again.

First of all thank you for your understanding, kind words, the 5 stars
and for the generous tip! :)

I still haven't got a response but we have to respond to
clarifications made here. Anyway, again I will post if I get anything
here.

Thanks again.
