How could I use TiVo Series 2 without service? (I live outside USA)

Depending on where you live, you may be able to use TiVo.  Canadians
are now able to use TiVo, although it isn't widely publicized.  If you
had an old Series 1 TiVo, you can use that like a VCR - setting the
times and channels manually.
