Yes, I was refering to "John C. Dvorak".

Are you certain his real name is "John C. Dvorak"? You mean his
parents last name is "Dvorak"?

I ask for clarificaton because all of the sites that you quoted are
fairly RECENT INFORMATION with 2 of all 3 being sources that he (John
C. Dvorak) probably wrote! If he changed his name, the sites you
listed would list his name as the changed version.

What I am looking for is his name "at the time of his birth".

How could it be "Dvorak" which is the name of an alternative keyboard?

Please clarify that his "name at time of birth" was in fac, "John C. Dvorak".

John C. Dvorak did not publish this source:

INTERNIC
http://reports.internic.net/cgi/whois?whois_nic=dvorak.org&type=domain

?and there is nothing to indicate that he actually wrote the other two.

He is married to Mimi Smith-Dvorak who occasionally collaborate with
him on his columns and books, so at the very least ?Dvorak? is his
legal name. I?ve sent him an email. Let?s see if he responds.

I have spoken briefly with Mr. Dvorak via email. I wouldn't be
surprised if he appeared here and posted some information himself (I
did make that invitation). He did confirm that he was distantly
related to famous composer Antonin Dvorak (1841-1904), which suggests
that his surname is indeed his birth name. If he doesn't offer more
information I suspect that we'll have to rely on that as a definitive
an answer as possible under the circumstances short of rounding up a
copy of his actual birth certificate - which I cannot do.

Mr. Dvorak just confirmed to me that John C. Dvorak is indeed his
birth name. He is the son of Walter C. Dvorak. There you have it -
straight from the source.

Thank you for the generous tip! By the way, Mr. Dvorak says the "C"
stands "Charles" as both his and his father's middle names.

Have a great day!

Hi barrytrot-ga,

Are you perhaps thinking of another tech pundit, Robert X Cringeley,
whose real name is Mark Stevens?

Now here's where it gets interesting. Cringeley was the name used by
InfoWorld magazine for a fictional journalist who took the blame when
things went wrong. And John C Dvorak wrote a column for InfoWorld.
When Dvorak left, InfoWorld decided that anyone else who wrote for the
column would do so as Robert X Cringeley.

Mark Stevens continued to write as Robert X Cringeley after he left
InfoWorld. This precipitated a lawsuit which was settled out of court.

Clearly, the "John C. Dvorak" mentioned above by the customer is
associated with www.dvorak.org , the same website indicated by the
customer, which is registered to and owned by John C. Dvorak. I am
certain these are one and the same.
