I need access to an authoritative calculator for child support and
alimony. Not those posted by law firms as an estimate. Ideally it is a
program that I can run on my own. Not a service which I submit the
information and wait for respond. The state is California and the
counter is Alameda. The program should be either free or moderately
priced (less than $50).

According to Los Angeles attorney Laura Gitlin-Petlak, because of the
complexity involved the state of California uses two programs to
determine the amount of alimony and child support:

?California child support law involves complex algebraic equations,
and while the computations may be done with pencil and paper, the
amount of time involved in calculating child support could take hours.
Usually, computer software approved by the California Judicial Council
is employed (examples of registered trademarked programs with
copyrights are Xspouse and DissoMaster. By using such software, the
time involved in calculating support can be dramatically reduced.?
