If you want to connect an analog phone to the modem such that the phone can make calls to the modem, or vice versa, you need a circuit that connects the two items and supplies voltage for ringing and talking, etc, like a telephone exchange does. These are commonly called 'line simulator' or 'ringdown' circuits and can be bought ready-made, such as http://www.vikingelectronics.com/products/view_product.php?pid=38 You could also use a small PBX / phone system. |
