I am looking for either the text of a story (perhaps poem) or a source
to purchase a poster I saw on a Dr's office wall a few years ago.
Unfortunately, I do not remember much of the actual text (that would
be far too easy!) but here's the basic jist of it.

It was on a poster so it can't be that long. The story was from the
point of view of a very soon to be mom wakened from sleep by the
beginning stages of birth. The mother contemplates how close her and
the baby are at that time and delays waking the father to go to the
hospital to relish the moment and reflect. She thinks about how she
and the baby will never be that close again. After the reflection,
she tells the baby something like its time to wake your father.

paz, I was unable to find the poster, but I did find this poem. Could
it be the right one? It brought back memories and tears to my eyes!

Baby on the way

It is important to me
that I spend a part of
the next few hours here
alone with you in the darkness
You and I will never
be this close again
by morning you will be
a tiny person all your own.
No longer the kicking
demanding bulge
in my body that
I have grown to love so well.
I pray that God will safely
guide you in your journey
And I ask Him for the strength
to help you all I can.
Again - you signal
your impatience to be free
time to wake your daddy.

Paz,

I am so glad you are happy to have the poem. I searched everywhere, to
no avail. Perhaps another researcher can locate it. (I am a
researcher, but I had no luck)

If no one can locate it, I do have an idea you might consider.
Take a photo of your pregnant wife. IF you don't have a digital
camera, scan the developed picture into your computer, and using a
graphics program, make your own poster, with her picture on it! If you
don't have the software, perhaps you have a friend who mighr have
Paintshop, Adobe, or Corel. You can add the poem, fade the picture,
and get very artistic. You could upload the finished picture with poem
to
www.ofoto.com and select the size you want. Reasonable prices too.
OR
I would be willing to bet the folks at Kinkos would help you
manipulate a picture of your wife, and add the text for you. THey make
posters also!

Crabcakes-

You've found it! Thanks so much. My wife and I are expecting our
first baby and I remembered being touched by this poem even before we
got married. It is especially appropriate now. If you are a google
researcher, this is an acceptable answer. If you are not, thanks so
much for finding it for me! Hopefully a researcher can find the
poster...it would make a wonderful gift for my wife.
