do foxes eat onions if not what would be eating onions on out
allotments,these are large almost mature and ready to pull, up to 3
inches across

No specific information, but found this:

If I had to eat chickens raw, I would certainly like some crunchy
fresh onion with them.

Just did a bit of a Google Search and apparently Reynard is French for Fox.
But I bet everyone already knew that.
