I was layed off from my job in February and offered Cobra, but had to turn it down do to a lack of finances, I am currently 52. I am currently trying to obtain Health Insurance but due to pre-existing conditions,in 2005 I had diviticulitis and a malignamt polyp was found. I find myself unable to get accepted by the major companies. I am currently living in Florida and would like to know of any insurance companies that may accept pre-existing conditions or any Associations which I could join to become part of a Group. Any help would be appreciated as I am late in returning to the hiospital for follow-up tests. |

In Texas there is a high risk insurance pool (http://www.txhealthpool.org) , but to use it you must exhuast your CORBRA benefits. That means being on CORBRA for 18 months. To get an idea of costs for a high risk insurance plan, a non smoker your age with the texas high risk pool, would cost $570/month for a $10,000 deductable If at all possible I would try and keep CORBRA, because with a pre-existing condition there is no way anyone will cover you. Or can you get a part time job (Wal-Mart?) that offers health insurance? |
