Can anyone tell me if the apple keyboard's (both the wired and bluetooth wireless) have usb ports on the side, to enable me to connect additional hardware? Also, is it possible to attach a mighty mouse to the keyboard via one of these ports? or does a mighty mouse use too much power? |

Hello Domdomdom, Let me break your question into three parts so the answer is clear. Q1: Does the Apple wired keyboard have USB ports "on the side"? A1: Yes. (they are adjacent to the USB cable coming in to the keyboard - away from the keyboard user). http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Developer_Notes/Macintosh_CPUs-G5/PowerMacG5/3Input-Output/chapter_4_section_9.html Q2: Does the Apple wireless keyboard have USB ports "on the side"? A2: No. There are no USB ports on the wireless keyboard. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86651#faq4 Q3: Is it possible to attach a mighty mouse to the keyboard by one of these ports? A3: Yes, but. Notice that there are power limits to "bus powered hubs" as described at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50468 As described at this page, mice (such as mighty mouse) are considered "low powered" devices. To find this information, I used search phrases like keyboard site:apple.com wireless keyboard site:apple.com USB power site:apple.com If you find the answer incomplete or unclear, please make a clarification request. Good luck with your system. --Maniac |
