Dear KSV, I did a search on Lexis Nexis, and I determined that Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra) is made by Pfizer. Vigorx is the company that is using a process (to be patented) to reconstitute Sildenafil Citrate in gel form, or soft tabs. From the reading and internet search on www.vigorx.com, it is apparent that virgorx was either acquired by or renamed as Vidrin. Here are some exerpts from the articles, which details what I've summarized: "Every Since Pfizer(R) introduced Viagra(R) (Sildenafil Citrate) in a tablet form a few years ago, companies have been scrambling to find a faster, more patient friendly form of the drug Sildenafil Citrate. Now, Vigorx(TM) announces they are able to offer results in just 15 minutes, revolutionizing the speed and ease of taking Sildenafil Citrate. Through a patent pending process, the compounding pharmacist takes Pfizer's Viagra(R) tablets, and grinds them to a fine powder. The Sildenafil Citrate powder from the Viagra tablets is mixed and formulated into a mint-flavored dissolvable gel form."\ .... "Currently Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs are available by prescription through the Internet. You can get them by going to www.vigorx.com. There is an easy to fill out medical history form that is forwarded on to a doctor for prescription approval. Once approved, Vigorx forwards the prescription to the pharmacist who compounds the Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs using the patented pending process." June 26, 2001 Tuesday "Now Vidrin offers a (sildenafil citrate) soft tab, that revolutionizes the speed and ease of taking sildenafil citrate." I have found dozens of Web sites which sell Sildenafil Citrate Soft Tabs. Many of them have statements similar to this: "Introducing Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs, the new sublingual lozenge compounded by a regulated and licensed pharmacy facility from Pfizers FDA approved Viagra®." http://buy-sildenafil-citrate-online.com/ Here's some information about the marketing of the Soft Tabs: "Interactive Multimedia Network recently launched SoftTab.com to market Soft Tab, a new and superior form of Sildenafil Citrate (the active ingredient in Pfizer's Viagra). Soft Tab is the fastest acting oral medication available today for Erectile Dysfunction. These tablets dissolve quickly under the tongue and achieve the desired effect within 15 minutes, allowing those who experience erectile dysfunction to more quickly enjoy sexual relations. The compounding Pharmacist utilizes only Pfizer® Inc.'s, FDA-approved Viagra® in the formulation of Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs. (Note:"Compounding" is the unique preparation of a customized medication by a licensed Pharmacist to solve the specific problems and needs of patients.)" http://www.tradersnation.com/imni.shtml Since this is a product that is compounded by a pharmacist, there may be no single "manufacturer." Pfizer (the manufacturer of Viagra) has applied for a patent on a similar product: http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=/netahtml/PTO/search-adv.html&r=37&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=PG01&S1='Sildenafil+Citrate'&OS="Sildenafil+Citrate"&RS="Sildenafil+Citrate" There is also a patent application for a chewing gum containing sildenafil citrate: http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=/netahtml/PTO/search-adv.html&r=31&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=PG01&S1='Sildenafil+Citrate'&OS="Sildenafil+Citrate"&RS="Sildenafil+Citrate" And an intranasal product: http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=/netahtml/search-adv.htm&r=24&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=ft00&S1=(sublingual+AND+sildenafil)&OS=sublingual+AND+sildenafil&RS=(sublingual+AND+sildenafil) |

These types of questions are best answered by professionals in the field. I would suggest you contact either a pharmacist or a pharmacologist. From the perspective of convenience, I would suggest you ask your neighborhood Walgreens or CVS retail pharmacist. |
