I'm looking for a simple ranked list of the best selling/most popular
games *designed* for girls (as opposed to a ranked list of the best
selling/most popular games that girls play but that are not
specifically designed for them). Thanks.

certainly be helpful.

OK, let me start by saying that I do not know what's you're
genre(style) so I don't know what you really like.
 The most loved games(by girls) are:
 -The Sims 2
 -Tomb Raider: Legend 
 -Final Fantasy (there are a lot of series but the most LOVED [really]
are "Final Fantasy VII","Final Fantasy VIII","Final Fantasy X" and
"Final Fantasy XI")
 -The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 
 -Puppy Luv

This is a general list but I would go for the first 3  listed above,
I've played them and they are just awesome!!
