Dear michael50, According to the latest figures available, the California State Highway System consists of 15,209 miles of state highways (as of 2004). This figure is confirmed in a 2004 document of the California State Water Resources Control Board: "State Highway System - The State of California has more than 15,000 miles of state highways."
