I am looking for a comprehensive list of all mutual funds and hedge
funds in San Francisco. If possible contact names/e-mail addresses
for actual people at these funds would be appreciated as well.

I'm sorry for the confusion. I'm looking for a list of funds that are
based (e.g. the offices and fund managers) in San Francisco. I am
trying to fund our which funds are operated in San Francisco. I'm not
looking for where they're registered for SEC purposes.

jg0606-ga,

There are about 300 mutual funds registered with the State of
California, and another 25 funds that call themselves Hedge Funds.

These are California-wide listings, rather than just San Francisco.
One could manually go through the list to pick out the SF registrants,
but I'm afraid that's more work than can be justified for $20.

Note, that these are companies REGISTERED in California, but not
necessarily headquartered in California.

If you'd like, though, I can show you how to generate the list of
mutual funds and hedge funds registered in the state, as an answer to
your question.

Let me know what you think.

how do you define a fund in San Francisco? Do you mean is thwre the
principal office is of the Fund Complex? Most funds are organized as
Massachusetts or Delaware Statutory Trusts.

In any cae, EDGAR has a plan text search, and it can look soely at
Mutual Funds; sotype in San Francisco and see what comes up.
