My mother said all my uncle wrote down was "God's Great Ships". She
thinks it's a gospel song. She can remember him listening to it all
the time. The story of the song is something like, "I'll be watching
from the sky, I'll see you by and by, God's great ships in the sky".
My mother could not really remember the words.

neutral milk hotel - aeroplane over the sea  

although not the same song, is very close, and a great song at that. :)
