Question ID: 739932
i would like to configure and recompile the latest version of glibc
(v2.4) to exclude specific NSS subcomponents (NIS, NIS+, Hesiod) in
such a way that the normal functions/operations are not affected as
those naming services will never be used on my system but others such
as PAM, LDAP, etc, will.

the question will will be considered successfully answered when the
detailed steps consisting of the ./configure options and necessary
patches are applied to the standard downloaded source pkg from
gnu.org, compiled with gcc 4.1.1, installed and running.

my rig is currently an Arch linux setup version 0.7.2 (gimmick) with
the latest testing configuration.
