I am helping a Cambodian friend apply for an F-1 student visa. What more can we do in order to make it more likely she will get the visa? What additional forms need to be completed before her embassy visit (e.g., is a certificate of health needed)? WHAT WE HAVE DONE The student has applied and been accepted to the school and will be issued the I-20 in two weeks (we will pay the SEVIS fee then); we have completed DS-156 and DS-158 (no DS-157 needed for a woman student); she has financial records (bank statement, 2005 tax return, employer's pay stub) that show that her sponsor has the means to pay for the school. She has an appointment on 30-June at the Embassy. You need not refer us to easy things we already discovered using Google. We have already reviewed the information at: - education.state.gov - travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html - Google's answers to "Student Visa Hints" Looking forward to hearing from you. |
