I'm in sydney australia with my wife and baby daughter for a couple of
months (I live in the UK). I urgently need to find somewhere to buy
pre-made baby milk. To be clear, that's the ready to pour babys milk
that comes in cartons or bottles - not the milk powder. I can't seem
to find it anywhere. It's sold everywhere in the uk, but I can't find
it anywhere in Sydney. If it's sold anywhere in Australia and can be
delivered to us in Sydney within a week or two, that would also be
fine as long as the delivery cost isn't too huge.
Thanks for your help.

Hi billbryson-ga,

I can't find any Australian retail source for the kind of liquid baby
milk that is readily available in the UK.

However, there is a UK business that specializes in sending this kind
of product overseas (including several brands of UK liquid baby milk).
They quote a typical time from order to receipt of goods of from 5 to
23 days.

Should I post the details as the answer to your question?

Regards,
eiffel-ga

Hi billbryson-ga,

Firstly, please accept my deepest apologies for the delay in posting
the answer. I've been checking the "Clarification" section of this
question every day, but I've only just noticed your 30 June post in
the "Comments" section.

Liquid ready-to-use baby milk can be sent to Australia by British
Supermarket Worldwide. From their homepage:

"Bringing you the British food you miss from home. Offering
the widest variety of famous brand familiar British Food
products at competitive prices, delivered directly to your
   door around the world..."

British Food online delivered to Expats worldwide
   http://www.britishsupermarketworldwide.com/

They quote a typical time from order to receipt of goods of from 5 to
23 days (including dispatch and delivery). Baby milk products
available from them include:

   - Cow & Gate Premium First Infant Milk Ready To Feed
     From Birth (200ml and 500ml)

   - Cow & Gate Plus Infant Milk for Hungrier Babies
Ready To Feed From Birth (200ml and 500ml)

   - Farleys First Baby Milk Ready To Use From Birth (250ml)

   - Milupa Aptamil First Baby Milk Ready to Use From Birth (200ml)

   - Milupa Aptamil Extra Liquid Baby Milk Ready to Use From Birth
     (200ml)

   - Sma White Baby Milk Ready To Use from birth (250ml)

   - Sma Gold Baby Milk Ready To Use from birth (250ml)

plus a range of follow-on milks for older babies.

I agree with you that there must be a large unmet demand for these
products in countries where they are not yet available. I live in the
UK, and my wife and I used these milks occasionally for our babies
when travelling, and found them most convenient.

I can also imagine a new market for a "convenience" product comprising
a container of this kind of milk already attached to a single-use
teat. No fuss, no mess.

I trust this information is useful to you. Although it may be too late
for your current trip, perhaps it will be helpful for future journeys.

Regards,
eiffel-ga

Could you please elaborate what kind of product you're talking about?
What is its name in the UK? How old is the baby? Is it a forumla
(instead of breastfeeding?) Is it a food prodcuct for weaned babies?

Sorry, but you'll have to acclimatise to the Oz lifestyle ...

It's beer with everything - even for babes in arms.

Please note that it is not a good idea to change the milk formula for
a young baby, except very gradually. (So,if you need to change, then
mix 90% old formula plus 10% new formula on the first day, then very
gradually mix in more of the new milk.) If you suddenly give a bottle
of new formula the baby can get indigestion, colic and the runs.
If you wish to change the formula then it is a godd idea to consult
your health visitor.

Yes please post the details as the answer to the qestion. It's
probably not ideal as we'll prob be leaving oz in a month and i can't
imagine they can get it here much before then (without big cost), but
I appreciate your time and help. And thanks to everyone else for their
comments. I'd also be interested in getting the contact details for
producers of this pre-made milk as there seems to be a big unexploited
market...
