Are there statistics available on predicting the sale price (whether
in an auction or gallery) of a piece of art depending on its subject?
I.e., are there hard facts proving that female nudes generally sell
better than male nudes? Flowers better than horses? I found one survey
of British galleries (bottom of page:
http://www.fineart.co.uk/PressCentre.asp) but I'm looking for
something a bit more factual and universal. An ideal answer would
contain links to factual studies or news reports within the last five
years -- I'm not interested in theories or conjecture. Thanks!
