There is public information out there, but it may cost you a bit to access it. For a small fee, you can access the Texas Department of Public Safety: Criminal Records Service ( http://records.txdps.state.tx.us/ ) and log in to Conviction Database. Simply go to the TDPS home page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click beside "Click here to Log in to Conviction Database." For another small fee, you can access the Houston Chronicle's Archive Library ( http://www.chron.com/content/archive/index.mpl ); unless you subscribe to the Houston Chronicle, then the service is free. They have archived stories dating back to 1985. You might also try the Texas State Library and Archives Commission's Texas Records and Information Locator ( http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/trail/index.html ). And you could contact the Texas Department of Criminal Justice ( http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/ ). In many cases, all you have to do is ask the right people and the information starts to flow. |
