I have a year left before I complete my Master of Organizational
Leadership, but I'd like to tackle to refinancing of my student debt
now. I owe approximately $58k.

I'm either looking for a specific company or an avenue I can take to
achieve the lowest interest and payments.

Some of the companies I have looked into have some horrific fine
print. For example, the interest rate they advertise goes into effect
(only) after 3 years of on-time payments. While I don't anticipate
being late, I'd be butchered by payments then!

Thanks!

For what it's worth, there's an article at
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/MellodyHobson/story?id=2082309 going over
some elements of student loan consolidation that may be helpful, with
at least some avenues for a first steps.

If part of the reason you're looking to consolidate has to do with
avoiding the forthcoming rate increases on Federal student loans
(Stafford and PLUS loans, for example) then realize that those
increases are going to kick in on 1 July 2006--not a lot of time!
