Hello again Thanks for another puzzle! This hangover cure is known as a 'prairie oyster'. According to a discussion in the alt.usage.english newsgroup, the Oxford English Dictionary quotes an article in the Spectator: "1960 Spectator 25 Nov. 878 A Prairie Oyster, which is the raw yolk of an egg slipped whole into a glass containing a tablespoon of Worcester Sauce and a dash of sherry, with a flick of red pepper." http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?q=+hangover+sherry+%22worcester+sauce%22egg&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=34b5c3b5.134588496%40news.indigo.ie&rnum=1 Sounds as if the cure would be worse than the hangover, but you'll find many variations on the recipe like this one using port instead of sherry: http://www.epicurious.com/db/drinking/d0500-d0599.HG/d0529.html Thanks for keeping us challenged with your puzzles (still tussling with your question on Shrewsbury).
