There is an R&B song that came out in the early 90's that I can not recall. The lyrics that I know for certain are: "I have a friend in you... i know your on my side..." other parts that I am not certain of are "wherever I go... i know I have a friend in you". I believe the song was called "I have a friend in you" or something like that. It was definetly a 1 hit wonder type of a group. I heard them on the radio (KUBE 93.3 Seattle). I have emailed KUBE but have not gotten any response from them. Searches on the internet have yielded no results either. They might have performed at KUBE's Summer Jam around 1992 or 1993. | |

Was the singer male or female? Was it a ballad or more upbeat? Anything else you can tell me would help... Thanks! ~* Schylaar *~ |

Could it possibly be "It Was You," by Ashley Ballard, who recorded it with So Plush for the soundtrack of Pokemon: The First Movie? This song dates to later in the 1990s; the soundtrack was released in 1999. You can listen to a clip here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002MZ1Y/qid=1151293877/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-9907928-4899206?s=music&v=glance&n=5174 Here are some of the lyrics that seem to match those you recall: It was you who showed me I got a friend in you I always knew that you'd be right here for me and it was you who stuck with me when the skies were blue and it was you who stood by my side It was you Since the day you came in my life I knew then that you'd be someone by my side Then you proved you're a friend to me Within my heart wherever, you will always be |
