Question ID: 741056
I was recently sited for speeding in Kentucky. I was clocked at 72 in
a so called 55 mph zone. The officer reduced it to 64 on the ticket.
(9 over)

My question is, what does the law say if there are no speed limit
signs posted on the road? I wasnt driving reckless or anything and I
also got my vehicle tested because the speedometer reading is off by
5-7 mph. (now I know)

I wasnt speeding intentionally, but was sited for speeding.
I thought the speed limit was 65 mph.
I am a Tennessee resident and how will this affect my MVR?
Does the state of Kentucky report this violation to my state, (Tennessee)?
Since the state of Kentucky didnt post speed limit signs, how was I
suppose to know that the limit was 55??
Is there anything I can do to fight this ticket since there are no
speed limit signs posted on that particular road way?
Is there any recourse I can take to protect my license?
Also, the officer didnt even make me sign the ticket. Since I didnt
sign it, do I still have to follow up on it?

Is there any hope whatsoever?

Thanks!

In general, ignorance of the law is not accepted as an excuse. It is
up to you to be acquainted with the local regulations. Since the
default non-urban speed limit in Kentucky is 55mph, there is no need
for this to be posted.
