Hi, How would you create close up Thumbnails for large volumes of
photos that Users upload for a dating site. eg: If User uploads a long
shot of their photo where the face is not clear, is there a way to
create Thumbnail of close up of their face. And needs to be done
automatically as there could be lots of photos that can be uploaded on
daily basis. Would like to know if we have to edit the photo and
create thumbnail manually for each photo or if there is a software
that does it automatically. Thanks!

Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. Think of what would happen stick
and piece of paper in a photocopier and keep hitting the enlarge
button. While the image 'will' enlarge, you'll quickly reach a point
of unacceptable image degradation. Same thing here.

Thumbnails are created so pages load quickly, typically giving the
viewer a 'preview' or a larger image. Because they are meant to load
quickly, the characteristic that they all have in common is that the
file size is quite small (maybe 2K or 3K for a postage stamp sized
image). It just doesn't haven't enough pixels to give you enough
clarity to make a small picture bigger, at least clearly. Of course,
going the other way (big to small) is a breeze.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
