V. B. Simkins Sewing Machines in Kingston, Ontario claim to be the
oldest sewing machine store in Canada, existing since the 1860s, and I
have found no reason to doubt that statement. There seem not to be any
other businesses asserting this claim; at least I could not locate
any.
A funny detail: In the company history on the store's website, current
owner Eric Simkins is called "Mr. Sewing Machine Man", which is by
chance very closely resembling your screen name.
