Hello, I'm from NYC and i'm looking to buy a specific cookie that is
made in France but I can't seem to find it in NYC. The name of the
cookie is "Langues de chat" made by either " belle france" or "Lu". I
would like to buy it locally here in Manhattan or any of the
surrounding boroughs or even Long Island. Does anyone know where I can
pick up a few boxes of these cookies? Thanks, Kevin |

Dear Kevin,
LU don't make Cat's Tongues, at least not according to their site.
I've found another company that does - Galler; and there are several
other "simpler" versions, similar to LU.
Do you want them as an answer?

Hello, Thanks for the reply. I am just looking for a place that I can
buy it in New York City. It really doesn't matter who makes it, I
would just prefer those 2 because I have tried them.

I found a site that sells it online but i don't want to order it
online, with customs and all that nonsense. I would like a store where
I can go to, when i need to, to buy these cookies. Here is the link

Hello kevin724-ga,
I?ve found the websites for both of the brands you mentioned. Belle
France doesn?t give much help on where to find their products but Lu
Biscuits has a website that provides lists of stores where you can buy
their products. I suggest that you review the New York list of stores
to find one near you and then call them to find out if they carry the
?langues de chat? cookies. Even if they don?t, they might be willing
to order them for you.

An alternate possibility would be for you to seek out French bakeries
that offer a large selection of cookies. They will probably offer
?langues de chat? cookies or can suggest alternative shops where you
might obtain them. Here is one bakery but I?m sure there are others in
New York.

I hope that these resources will help you find your cookies. Please
let me know if you will accept this as a satisfactory answer.
I look forward to your clarification.

Hello again kevin724-ga,
What have you decided about trying to find your langues de chet
cookies at a bakery instead of prepackaged at a grocery store? As a
sample, did you check out the links for Payard Patisserie & Bistro I
provided?
http://www.payard.com/home.php
http://www.payard.com/petit1.php
Alternatively, have you considered looking for ladyfingers? These
cookies are very similar to langues de chat.
http://www.joyofbaking.com/Ladyfingers.html
Ladyfingers are very similar to Cat's Tongue Cookies (Langues-de-chat).
http://www.elledi.com/listaProdotti.php/idCategoria=6
Savoiardi (Lady fingers - pack)
Here is a baker that supplies ladyfingers to several New York stores.
You might have better luck by looking for ladyfingers since they?re
usually used in tiramisu, which is still very popular.
http://www.comanzo.com/
Comanzo & Co. Artisan Bakers
You'll find our biscotti, shortbread linzer cookies and ladyfingers in Whole Foods
Markets, the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center in New York City, and at the St.
Regis, the Palace, and the Algonquin Hotels in New York. You can also find us at
Oprah's HARPO studio in Chicago.
http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/list_NY.html
In addition to these links, I think you would also probably have a
chance of finding langues de chat or ladyfingers by visiting some
European, French or gourmet grocery stores. Unfortunately, the
websites for grocery stores are not very comprehensive and I think you
would have much better luck by looking in well-stocked stores. I
recommend that you talk to the store manager if you can?t find what
you?re looking for. From my past experience, I think they will be
happy to order you what you?re searching for if they already have
products from the same manufacturer.
Will the resources I?ve provided give you sufficient options for
finding an acceptable cookie?
I look forward to your clarification.

Good luck, kevin724-ga. It would be so much easier if you would be
willing to order online. ;-)
All the best.
