I am interested to know how many (percentage) students in the UK get
each degree classification in their first degree. Ie how many fail,
get a 3rd, 2.2, 2.1 or 1st. Results can be from any individual UK
university (preferable not Oxford or Cambridge though), or a country
wide average. Cheers

Dear blueincubus-ga,

The nearest statistics available to your criteria are these statistics
for Higher Education (HE) students from the Higher Education
Statistics Agency.

The table provides HE qualifications obtained in the UK by level, mode
of study, domicile, gender, class of first degree and subject area.

For 2004/2005 the results were as follows:

Total first degrees 271345
First Class 29440
Upper Second 122840
Lower Second 83240
Third Class/ Pass 18225
Unclassified 17600

Much more information on this link.

For earlier years.

I hope this answers your question. If it does not, or the answer is
unclear, then please ask for clarification of this research before
rating the answer. I shall respond to the clarification request as
soon as I receive it.
Thank you
