Where are you located? What types of animals do you plan to work with?

The best way to learn how to groom pets is by getting a job in an
existing business.

Please be aware that not all pets are compliant and that you will have
to learn how best to handle the unpleasant ones.

My own sweet cat has to be under general anesthetic at the Vet's in
order to be groomed..

He's pretty friendly unless you come at him with a brush in your hands........

Actually there are grooming schools for this purpose. How you find a
reputable one is a different matter.

I used to have an excellent groomer. She got a bit out of hand-- pushy
and demanding despite working around her requests and a 60/40 share--
and I canned her. It took two years to find a replacement as good as
her.

Side note: I finally stopped offering grooming (and boarding, food
sales, and a bunch of other stuff) when I noticed my physician didn't
have a beauty salon, hotel, or gift shop, and that I would be pretty
suspect of the capabilities of one that did.

The woman who grooms Daisy, my Yorkshire Terrier, does an amazing job
- I don't know how.

When I bath Daisy she protests and I have to hold her tight whenever
my daughter trims her whiskers. Yes it takes two of us.

I am amazed at how groomers cope with all the various pets.

how about grooming goldfish? :)
