I inherited mineral rights to a farm in the Williston oil basin in Canada. I'm not sure just how valuable this is or how to pursue my interests. I would appreciate anyone with experience in this area to explain the basics of how to proceed and to provide a plan of action. |

Okay, as a granddaughter of a mineral junkie, and with a little bit of research I came up with this. The Williston Oil Basin is a sedimentary basin that runs along the edge of the Rocky Mountains in North Dakota, Montana and southern Saskatchewan and is known to contain light to medium crude oil and natural gas. A fair portion of it was just leased to "Lions Petroleum" to do more exploration. Link to the article: http://money.canoe.ca/News/Other/2006/06/29/1659505-cp.html What my suggestion would be is to contact either this company, or others that are doing exploration in this area and offer your stake for purchase or lease. I cannot estimate a value for this because very few leases are made public, but I would believe contacting a few petroleum companies would be sincerely worth your time. |
