Goldratt's early book, "The Goal" was a novel about a harried manager.
It's become popular as a way of discussing constraints in a real
company without the statistical focus typical to business school
analysis.

Goldratt's approach to bottlenecks in a business is described a
"Theory of Constraints" and is often discussed in the context of
continued process improvements or total quality management.

Here's a bibliography:

JOURNALS
---------

A search of Expanded Academic ASAP, a journal search resource at my
local library, doesn't reveal any peer-reviewed articles authored by
Goldratt. There are articles on Goldratt's "Theory of Constraints,"
including:

Quality Progress (Jan. 2002)
"A user-friendly financial reporting system."
Jeffrey Alan Long, Joseph F. Castellano, Harper A. Roehm.

The CPA Journal (April 1999)
"An application of the theory of constraints."

Industrial Management (Nov-Dec 1998)
"Painting a better process: implementing the theory of constraints in
the batch process industry."
Rexford H. Draman, Vicki Salhus.

Harvard Business Review (March-April 1998)
"Bringing discipline to project management"
Justin Roe, Jeffrey Elton.

IIE Solutions (March 1997)
"Supply chain management in complex manufacturing"
Sanjeev Gupta.

Management Accounting (Feb. 1995)
"Blending quality theories for continuous improvement"
Harper A. Roehm, Donald Klein, Joseph F. Castellano.

Management Accounting (Dec. 1993)
"Critical thinking and the goal"
Ralph L. Benke Jr., Roger H. Hermanson.

And here's another article that may be of interest:
Apparel Industry Magazine (2 parts, Oct & Nov. 1992)
"Jonah Takes on the Apparel Chain"
"QR2: in 6 Days 12 Lives Were Changed"
Karen Shaffner

The earliest reference to Goldratt is in New England Business (March
16, 1987), which notes his different approach to management. The
article is titled "Consultant's Credo: Success May Require
Slaughtering the Sacred Cows of Business."

Your local library should have access to the journal articles above
via Expanded Academic ASAP or Infotrac, two on-line services.

Though this was primarily a library search, a Google search strategy
reveals all but one of the books:
"Eliyahu Goldratt"
"Eliyahu Goldratt" + bibliography

Bren --

What's on the web for the bibliography is from Goldratt's own organization:
http://www.goldratt-tour.com/about_eli.htm

Curiously, it omits his first book.
