Can you send me an article or publication regarding the legality of using an online signature for a waiver, for example, by posting the waiver and asking the person to hit "Accept"? I know a lot of people use this, but I cannot find any information on the legality of it. I help run a rowing team and would like to convert our registration process to the online option instead of handling all the paperwork. I would like to present this to the board, but will need to convince everyone that we will be covered legally. | |

Sounds to me like you need an electronic signature. I think even the US government accepts/requires them on certain documents. If there are definite legal implications of ACCEPT, then you need more than a click by a non-verified person on a URL button. One must obtain that legal signature from some signature supplier to make it valid. Sorry I can't tell you more, that's all I know. |
