Summary: When trying to access Amazon.com using Internet Explorer 6,
IE takes an incredibly long time to load (if it ever loads at all) ...
load times are on the order of minutes, not seconds. The IE "flag"
icon (upper right corner) shows continuous activity during that time,
but little if anything ever appears.
System information:
* Dell Inspiron 4100 (laptop), Pentium III, 1.13 GHz, 512MB RAM
* Windows XP Professional SP2, version 5.1.2600
* Internet Explorer 6, version 6.0.2900.2180.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519
Stuff I've tried:
* I can successfully use Firefox (1.5.0.4) on the same machine to
access Amazon.com. (This seems to indicate to me that the issue is
something within IE.)
* Deleting all temporary files (cookies and cached files) has no effect.
* Tried searching for HOSTS file(s) on the machine; the only ones I
can find with the name HOSTS only have one entry for "localhost" at
127.0.0.1.
* ipconfig /flushdns has no effect. |
