Two things I've thought of, but I can't track the name to either - somewhere who looks after bridge tolls, from the French/Latin "pont" for bridge - a east european from the Black Sea area, from the district of Pontus Willie |

Willie - I couldn't find it either, but from genealogical records of "Pontsler"s reported online, I'd go with your first option - they seem to be of anglo-German origin, not Rumanians/Ukrainians/etc. |
