There are a lot of resources out there that help you to learn a new language. Id like to know what the most effective ones are. I already use the CD-Roms from http://www.unforgettablelanguages.com/ and have started using the flashcard program called VTrain from http://www.paul-raedle.de/vtrain/home.htm but what else is there that actually delivers what it promises? |

Berlitz (http://www.berlitz.com) has a really good reputation for effective language courses (though I don't know how inexpensive they are). I got a college minor in French, but have never taken one of their courses, so I can't speak first-hand to their quality. However, my older sister tried a high school language class briefly and gave it up, having little proficiency for languages. Later she ended up as an executive with a large US corporation, and has lived and worked in London, Paris, Singapore, and Hong Kong. For that purpose, she has had to learn French and two kinds of Chinese (I never would have believed she could do it!), and the Berlitz "blitz" courses seemed to have worked pretty well for her. Hope this is a help to you! |

The RosettaStone language learning CD-ROMs are great. I've used them to learn Spanish. I'm up to level 3 now. http://www.rosettastone.com |

I know this is the most expensive option but I have learned many languages over the years (was also a language teacher) and there is no better way than to actually learn the language in the country where it is spoken. e.g. for Spanish, you can try a course with Enforex (http://www.enforex.com) - I took a course there a year ago and even in a week saw my level of Spanish go up massively. |
