Hello flproject131-ga, No, not just any GSM phone will work with the service. According to this page from Verizon: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobileoptions/internationalsvcs/globalphone/index.jsp only one of Verizon's "Global Phones" which is both CDMA- and GSM-compatible will work with the service. You would not be able to switch back and forth with one CDMA phone and one GSM phone in Europe. According to this page: http://travel2.nytimes.com/2005/06/19/travel/19prac.html?ex=1276833600&en=0ba00c887ab5487f&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss "Without a newer hybrid phone, a traveler on a non-GSM network will have limited international roaming options."
